A London solicitor has launched a firm that has what is believed to be the first formal ties with an Israeli practice.
CY Jacob & Co, which is associated with the Israeli practice Yossitoff Cohen & Co, is offering specialist advice in many areas of commercial law.
A number of City firms have already targeted Israel because of its potential as an emerging market. Mark Jacob, head of the firm's London office, believes he has stolen a march on rivals by being the first UK outfit to set up shop there.
The London practice, which opened at the start of last month, is focusing on commercial property. It is involved in major new development schemes and secured lending, as well as acting for a number of high net worth individuals.
Senior partner Jacob is a relative junior. He was formerly an associate solicitor at Harbottle & Lewis.
