Top Isle of Man firm Cains has opened its first office in the UK as the offshore firm seeks to take advantage of the expansion of the island’s economy powered by its zero tax strategy.
The London operation is being headed by corporate lawyer Daniel Mackelden, formerly of Walkers.
Mackelden said: “The prospect of opening in London is an exciting one.”
Cains managing director Andrew Corlett said: “The expansion out of the Isle of Man will create a platform for us more easily to access business opportunities in the City and the UK.”
As well as handling the usual range of commercial services, Cains also advises the Isle of Man Film Commission which makes available equity investment for film and television productions shot on the island.
Corlett said: “Building the bridge between the Isle of Man and London will create a direct day to day link with the Isle of Man’s finance sector and Cain’s expertise in Isle of Man and other offshore legal and related services.”
