Irwin Mitchell's corporate finance department has hired Freethcartwright's head of company and commercial.
Ian Worthington was formerly in the Nottingham office at Freethcartwright and will join Irwin Mitchell's Leeds office.
Irwin Mitchell is in the process of developing its corporate finance department in Leeds and plans to introduce more risk management initiatives in the commercial division.
Worthington says of his move: "I joined the firm because it has established a solid presence and reputation in Leeds under Kevin Cunningham [the office's managing partner].
"I was at Irwin Mitchell for five happy years, but I wanted to move to a national firm to further my career opportunities."
Cunningham says he is delighted at the new appointment. "Ian's appointment will enhance our growing profile and provides the team with a critical mass that will enable future growth in this competitive market."
