Irwin Mitchell has placed four support staff in its Glasgow office into a redundancy consultation following a decision to relocate the roles to Sheffield.
Those affected by the restructuring are all in the firm’s finance team, the rest of which is already located in the Sheffield office.
The consultation is expected to complete before Christmas. None of the jobs affected are thought to be duplicates so those that do not relocate would be replaced by new recruits in Sheffield.
Irwin Mitchell appointed its first non-legal chief financial officer Andrew Merrick in April after gaining five ABS licences last year (20 August 2012). Merrick was the third non-lawyer to be appointed to the board of IMCO Holdings, the parent group of Irwin Mitchell, and also sits on its executive board (12 December 2012).
Until the month Irwin Mitchell was the only firm in the top 50 operating as an ABS but it was joined by Gateley on 13 December when the latter was granted a licence for its English offices, making it the second top 50 firm to have been awarded one (20 December 2013).
Irwin Mitchell declined to comment.
