Irwin Mitchell has lost its House of Lords appeal to stop a private care home operator evicting an 83-year-old Alzheimer's sufferer. The Lords held that the Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA) only applies against public bodies, meaning it would offer no protection to those in private care, even when a patient is placed by a public body.
