Irwin Mitchell is to open an office in Bristol in a bid to break into the South West legal market.
The firm has appointed personal injury lawyer Jonathan Peacock as regional managing partner. He will move to Bristol from Birmingham and will be joined initially by clinical negligence associate Julie Lewis.
Irwin Mitchell said its Bristol city centre office has room for 27 lawyers and legal staff and that it would be announcing a series of appointments in the coming weeks.
Peacock said: “For many years we’ve provided services to personal injury clients in Bristol and across the South West from our Midlands office in Birmingham.
“We have many clients in the region and having a permanent base here in the South West is a logical consolidation of our position in the market here.”
Senior partner John Pickering said the move was part of a strategic plan to expand the firm’s national office base.

What an utterly ridiculous and dumb founded comment regarding work being 'farmed out'.

"A while ago there was a report in the Observer newspaper about proceedings against Irwin Mitchell which were brought by Michael Ford. Does anyone know if the action is continuing?"
it seems that proceedings against Irwin Mitchell is still going ahead. - at a recent gathering of city solicitors, it transpires that a case is going ahead against IM, Michael Napier, and certain others partners including Peter Bellamy, now a district Judge.
