The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Bristows senior partner David Brown has retired after 40 years at the firm, to be replaced by real estate partner Michael Rowles.
IP specialist Brown became senior partner in 2002. Incoming senior partner Rowles told The Lawyer: “David has made an enormous contribution to the firm in the last 40 years. He was a towering figure in IP law and will be missed.”
Rowles joined Bristows in 1974, and is the longest serving partner at the firm. “It is a significant honour, after 32 years at the firm, to take on the role of senior partner,” he said.
Brown famously represented Rockwater in its High Court patent dispute with Coflexip in 2003. Rockwater won the case after Mr Justice Laddie overruled his own decision on the validity of Coflexip’s patent.
During his time at Bristows, Brown also took several patent cases to the House of Lords, including Glaxo v. Generics and Novartis v. American Home Products.
Brown could not be reached for comment as he had already left the office to enjoy his retirement.
