This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Over 2,000 law students from around the world will compete in the Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
The competition comes to London today, following rounds in Moscow and Port Elizabeth, South Africa. It will continue over five continents until the final round in Washington, DC between 31 March – 6 April.
The UK round begins today at Gray’s Inn and ends this Sunday. Nineteen teams from across the UK will compete for the chance to travel to Washington and compete internationally in the White & Case International Rounds.
Over 600 teams from 92 countries will give oral and written arguments on a hypothetical international dispute before a simulated International Court of Justice. This year is 54thannual competition and teams from Bahrain, Iran, Macau, Sierra Leone and Trinidad and Tobago will participate for the first time.
“This is a global elite competition for students, which captures relevant and contemporary international law issues… The moot competition is a fantastic opportunity for law students to experience the courtroom and test their skills”, said White & Case partner Dipen Sabharwal, a former Jessup world champion in 1999 and a judge since 2003.
UK teams have been competing in the Jessup since 1973. Last year, all three British teams to make the international rounds have gone beyond the preliminary rounds, with the University of Oxfod advancing to the quarter finals.
The first round of the International Negotiation Competition was held last Saturday (5 February 2013).
