Bermuda-based fixed satellite provider Intelsat has snared Tyco International general counsel for Latin America Armando Tirado to take up the role of general counsel for Europe and the Middle East.
Tirado is temporarily working out of Intelsat's Washington DC office, but is expected to move to his permanent base in London before the end of the month.
He will be reporting to Intelsat senior vice-president and worldwide deputy general counsel Pat Casey.
His predecessor Veronica Pastor has remained within the Intelsat organisation and is understood to have been appointed as director of business development for Europe and the Middle East.
Tirado's former role at Tyco International has been filled internally, with the company appointing Tyco Fire and Security's senior corporate counsel Francisco Hernandez as its new general counsel for Latin America.
As reported on www.the lawyer.com (6 August), Tyco Electronics and Covidien separated from Tyco International last June.
