Bermuda-based fixed satellite provider Intelsat has appointed the former head of business and legal affairs for the emerging markets division of MTV Networks International as its assistant general counsel, principally responsible for Europe and the Middle East.
Robert ;Cummins replaces Armando Tirado and will manage the regional contracts team based in Intelsat’s London and Washington DC offices. Cummins took up the role on 22 September and will report to senior vice-president and deputy general counsel Patricia Casey in DC.
Cummins left his role at MTV two years after joining from ;business ;and technology consultancy Sapient. MTV is looking for a replacement, but in the meantime the role is being covered by Sharifah Bailey, the senior counsel, business and legal affairs, emerging markets.
MTV has endured a number of reshapings of its legal department in recent years, with head of legal for international and the UK Roger James taking charge last year following a restructuring that reintegrated the UK legal team with the pan-European legal group.
Prior to the restructure, James had been part of a three-man management team looking after production, with Nayeem Syed as UK head of legal and Neil Miller ;responsible ;for technology and corporate.
