Insurance whiz joins Wilde Sapte

Wilde Sapte has taken on Professor Robert Merkin, a leading legal academic in insurance, as a consultant.

Merkin is now attached to the firm's insurance practice, and has a remit to deal with business development and training.

Merkin will shortly become Professor of Commercial Law at Cardiff Law School. He is best-known for writing Colinvaux Law of Insurance and is also editor of Insurance Law Monthly and Journal of Business Law.

He also sits on a number of insurance industry boards.

Philip Rocher, head of Wilde Sapte's insurance department, said Merkin's decision to join was a "feather in our cap".

The firm opened a dedicated insurance office at Lloyd's in October 1994.
