Indian law firm Singhania & Co has sent four lawyers to its London office to replace the ones who broke away to set up a rival practice (The Lawyer, 17 January).Partners Gagan Anand and Rina Barua, along with assistants Rajiv Duli and Karam Chand, left India to join the practice's UK office.Plans for Indian partner Madhurendra Nath Jha to join the office as managing partner are also underway.These moves follow the departure of four lawyers, who have set up rival UK practice Agarwal Ladwa Mitter & Tapia. Their defection left only one Singhania lawyer in London, Dorothy Thomas.Anand says: "More lawyers are also on their way. We have been strengthening our team in London for the last five years."The firm advises mainly Western companies and law firms and has a portfolio of clients worth an estimated £4bn.
