As the Indian legal market looks set to open up to foreign firms, LG’s review of its Indian firm network is fast approaching completion.

While it has succeeded in building a strong Indian group, new managing partner Hugh Maule sees focusing attention on three or four firms as hugely beneficial.

While others wait on deregulation, Maule reckons LG has found the right strategy no matter what the Indian government does.

“We’ve done extremely well in technology and corporate in India and strengthening this with a specific group of firms in India can only benefit us,” Maule explained.

“Deregulation is hugely significant, but we feel we’re taking the right approach to being successful in India.”

Many UK firms are champing at the bit to set up shop in India, but there are just as many that share LG’s dedication to the network approach.

The leading Indian firms will have a wide choice of best friends.
