Independent mediators

We Would like to correct an error in the article about the Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre which appeared in The Lawyer 9 January ('Firm brings ADR centre to Midlands').

Solicitors at Rees Edwards Maddox will only act as neutral mediators in disputes which do not involve the firm's own clients.

Members of the firm will represent the firm's clients as advocates in the mediation process, but will use a neutral mediator from another firm.

It is the essence of the mediation process that the mediator is independent of both parties so that he or she can act in a neutral capacity.
