This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
InBev, the owner of a global brand portfolio including Becks, Stella Artois and Brahma, selected the firms from a raft of more than 30 big-name contenders. They will have first bite at an annual legal spend of E30m (£20.33m).
Past advisers such as Allen & Overy, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, Herbert Smith, Lovells and Simmons & Simmons were left empty-handed.
Global general counsel Sabine Chalmers, who joined the company from rival drinks giant Diageo last year, told The Lawyer: "We looked at different boxes to tick, including global reach and geographic positioning that matched our own.
"We were also looking for cultural fit - partners and associates who were dynamic and very commercial - and bench strength, so not just good partners but also associates we felt comfortable with.
"We also spoke to general counsels at investment banks and at major companies, and these three names just kept coming up."
