WSP Group, the structural engineers behind central London’s Shard tower, has hired the legal director of Derby-based train-maker Bombardier.
The group’s contracts and legal director Jane Mee, who advised on Bombardier’s bid for a multi-billion pound Crossrail project earlier this year, became WSP’s UK head of risk and contracts this week. She will be responsible for all legal matters in the UK.
Mee joined Bombardier, which makes carriages for Southern Railways, in March 2012. The move followed an 18 year stint at London Underground, where Mee was responsible for commercial procurement in her role as legal director.
WSP strategy and commercial director Mike Rogerson said in a statement: “Jane brings considerable experience of managing commercial contracts for major property and infrastructure projects. Jane’s client-side experience will significantly enhance our ability manage our clients’ and our own risk.”
Bombardier could not be reached for comment at the time of writing.
A number of firms picked up work advising on the construction of the Shard, Europe’s tallest building, which was completed last year (5 July 2012).
