E-commerce start-up Powa Technologies has turned to internet giant Yahoo for the hire of senior in-houser Manu Kanwar as chief legal officer.
Kanwar, who is currently head of corporate and commercial affairs at Yahoo, will start work at Powa on 13 January. He is the second in-house legal hire for Powa, which provides an e-commerce platform for retailers.
He will report to Powa’s CEO Dan Wagner and will also sit on the company’s board.
“It’ll be a good challenge, an opportunity to build a team and built that team internationally,” Kanwar told The Lawyer. “The company is in a very exciting space and exciting times.”
He added that his role would allow him to have input into the business from a commercial as well as a legal standpoint as it continued to expand and grow.
Powa was launched in 2010 when Wagner bought it out of his former employer Venda. Earlier this year the company raised $76m (£45.6m) from an unnamed US investor.
