This week The Lawyer reveals the remarkable story of Tinu Adeshile, general counsel at the Islam Channel.
If balancing working and studying part-time for five years to fund her legal qualifications wasn’t impressive in itself, just two months after starting work at the Islam Channel Adeshile was inspired enough by her surroundings to reject her Catholic roots and convert to Islam.
While Adeshile’s conversion was by no means a requirement of the job, it is testament to her dedication to the role and she wants to encourage other young people not to give up on their goals: “I don’t think they should give up, these trainees and students. I’ve been blessed, but it has taken determination too. I’d like to show other people that it’s possible to do whatever you want to do.”
