In-house lawyer star beats jail for assault

A LAWYER who pushed his lover onto a live rail at Leicester Square tube station has avoided a jail sentence. He was ordered by a judge to attend anger management classes.

Greig Morrison, 31, who works in the legal department of the Really Useful Group, "kicked or shoved" David Leonard off the platform after a row on 30 July, Southwark Crown Court heard.

Northern Line passengers watched in horror as Leonard convulsed face down on the track for up to a minute. Morrison and another passenger then jumped onto the track and pulled him to safety.

Kyrie James, a magistrate and former colleague of Morrison, says he is "a very talented young man with undoubted talents in the field of law."

Morrison admitted causing grievous bodily harm.

Judge Peter Fingret placed him on two years' probation, ordered him to perform 100 hours of community service and pay his victim £3,000 compensation.
