Clarks Shoes hires Compass Group GC as legal chief
C&J Clark International, the company that produces Clarks Shoes, has appointed Debbie Wakeford as its group director of legal and company secretary.

Wakeford was hired at the end of 2012. She was previously assistant general counsel at Compass Group and has spent the bulk of her career in-house.
The position became vacant following the return of Sue Malthouse to Veale Wasbrough Vizards in November (29 November 2012).
In her role at Clarks, Wakeford is responsible for all the company’s legal issues including including corporate governance, the IP portfolio, litigation, health and safety and management of external law firms.
She reports to finance director Robin Beacham.

Interesting that her husband had been recently appointed to Clarks before as purchasing director. A case of landing on her feet perhaps?
