Simon Baker, the Law Society training committee chair, has warned law students not to expect the current minimum salary scheme for trainee solicitors to continue beyond August 1997.
Although he confirmed the current levels would remain unchanged for 1996-7 (£12,125 for inner London and £10,850 for other areas), he said any expectation that the scheme would continue following the consultation exercise being undertaken by the committee would “not be realistic”.
