Advertising has begun for the post of chair for the Criminal Cases Review Commission, the new body set up by the Government to consider alleged miscarriages of justice. The commission will take over the functions of the Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, investigating possible miscarriages in criminal cases and referring them to the courts. The Home Office says the commission will be an independent, non-departmental body. The chair will be responsible for the overall management of the commission and be involved in some decisions on casework. He will be joined by a board of 10 other members.
