Robert Sayer beat David Keating by 12,819 votes to 7,062 to become the new Law Society president in an election which saw only 21.7 per cent of the profession vote - the lowest turnout ever. Irwin Mitchell's senior partner, Michael Napier beat sole practitioner Trevor Murray, by 12,563 votes to 7,531 to become deputy vice-president. Kamlesh Bahl becomes vice-president.
