In brief: Magistrates Court staff force pay U-turn

Hundreds of staff at the Inner London Magistrates Court will receive a 3.3 per cent pay rise after a strike ballot forced a U-turn on government ministers. Gary Streeter, parliamentary secretary to the LCD, had previously blocked the pay rise, which unions had agreed with the local courts management. But after a strike ballot, organised by the public service unions PTC and CPSA, Treasury minister Michael Jack agreed to honour the agreement.
