Lord Taylor, the Lord Chief Justice, is the guest speaker at the reception marking the development of Victim Support's Crown Court Witness Service. The event is being held at Newcastle Crown Court on 12 April and will also include representatives of the judiciary, criminal justice organisations and Victim Support. The service was set up to provide information and support to victims, witnesses, their friends and their relatives following research by Victim Support in 1991 which showed that victims and witnesses were often distressed by the experience of giving evidence. Funded by the Home Office, the service is available in every Crown Court in England and Wales.
