In brief: Linklaters partner to Bank of England

Linklaters & Paines partner Len Berkowitz is to take the top legal job at the Bank of England following Peter Peddie's retirement. Berkowitz will retire from the law firm to become adviser to the governors and head of the legal unit early next year. He will head an 11-strong legal team advising on areas such as banking and financial services law, criminal investigations, prosecutions and insolvency. Eddie George, governor of the Bank of England, said: “We are extremely fortunate to have recruited someone of the stature of Len Berkowitz.”
