A House of Commons report attacking the way the Government claws back social security benefits from personal injury compensation pay outs has been welcomed by the Law Society. The report says methods used by the Department of Social Security to recover benefits goes against natural justice. The society and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers welcome the report's proposals for benefits to be clawed back only from damages for past loss of earnings. The society's civil litigation committee chair Phillip Sycamore says: "We very much hope that the Government will take action quickly."
