In brief: Law Soc spending under fire from TSG

The Trainee Solicitors Group has called on the Law Society to freeze this year's proposed increase to their Law Society contributions until it can account for how £1.2m of the £2.2m trainee solicitors contributed last year was spent. According to the group, the society's accounts show that under half the money their members paid to it was spent on legal education and training. But a society spokesman said the extra money was spent on general services which benefitted trainee solicitors.
