The Law Society has urged the Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine, to rethink the government's court fees policy. In a paper it has sent to him, it argues that the policy of recovering all the costs of running the civil courts from litigants is wrong. It says payment of court fees should be waived in public interest cases.
