The article entitled 'Kuwaiti government denied immunity' on 6 June incorrectly stated that the government of Kuwait had been denied immunity in respect of an action by a former member of the Kuwaiti Air Force. The judgment was given in January 1994 following the plaintiff's ex parte application for leave to serve out of the jurisdiction. The government was not represented at the hearing. During a hearing in March 1995, at which both parties were represented by leading counsel, Mr Justice Mantell declared that the government of Kuwait was immune from the jurisdiction of the English courts in regard to this action and that the allegations could not be sustained. Costs were ordered against the plaintiff.
