In brief: Call for firmer control of Children Act cases

Members of the Lord Chancellor's Department Children Act Committee have called for firmer judicial control and case management for Children Act cases. The committee's annual report emphasises the need for close liaison and communication between all those involved in Children Act cases. It also gives guidance on the duties of expert witnesses and on video interviews with children. The committee said: "The essential ingredient in ensuring the successful operation of the Act has been the willingness of all those involved to co-operate with each other fully and to recognise each other's difficulties."
