CMS Cameron McKenna has poached a top immigration lawyer from SJ Berwin, and it is understood some sports clients will follow her to the firm.
Lorraine Forrest, an assistant at SJ Berwin, will join Camerons in the same role. She specialises in business immigration work for sports clients, including the Football Association and three or four Premiership football clubs.
Her client list is regarded as an impressive acquisition for Camerons, which is keen to develop the sports and entertainment area of its leading immigration practice.
Head of immigration Julia Onslow-Cole, says: "This is part of our strategy to expand our corporate immigration practice even further. It will put us on the map for sports and entertainment work and fits in with our corporate department work in sports."
SJ Berwin has appointed a more senior lawyer to replace Forrest, who will join the firm in February. Head of employment at SJ Berwin Nicola Kerr says: "In the meantime we have a senior employment lawyer with immigration experience and a paralegal who was working with Lorraine Forrest. We are continuing to service clients."
