  • I'm not suprised ILEX is now a more credible organisation. The organisation, staff and tutors are doing a great jobin promoting legal executives. I foolishly did the GDL and LPC and have found it difficult securing a training contract dispite working in the profession as a senior paralegal for a number of years. I am now working towards becoming a legal executive and the support I receive from ILEX is great!!!

  • Question to anom above..wow I am disheartened that it has been difficult securing a training contract especially as you are experienced.

I am about to start a GDL, but I am considering the legal executive now aswell.

    Thanks

  • The first poster clearly works for ILEX... lol How obvious is that? Demonstrates the kind of person doing ILEX!

  • From my experience, some people whom I have met on the GDL and LPC have absolutely no clue about the legal profession. For example, they refer to firms as 'companies', do not know what billable hours means, do not know what LLP stands for, do not know that the maj of firms recruit 2 years in advance, do not know what happens after the 2 yr training contract, and some take a couple of private client electives hoping to apply to corp city firms!!!

For these kinds of people, the cheaper option of ILEX is a much better idea than getting in thousands of pounds of debt to essentially become a paralegal for the next 10 yrs on half the salary a legal sec gets!
