Iceland's largest law firm Logos has launched in London to capitalise on the increasing investment by Icelandic companies in the UK.
The firm has joined the City offices of the Scandin-avian alliance firms Vinge, Kromann Reumert and Thommesen. Logos's London operation is headed by partner Gudmundur Oddsson.
Oddsson told The Lawyer: "Icelandic investment in the UK has been growing rapidly over the past few years, so it was a natural step to open a London office."
Icelandic companies such as retail giant Baugur Group have seen the UK market as ripe for acquisitions, including those of toy retailer Hamleys and jewellers Mappin & Webb.
"Our role over here is to manage clients investments and acquisitions," Oddsson said.
Oddsson is running the London operation single-handedly, but the volume of work has been such that the firm is looking to send over a second lawyer to help him.
