IBA resolution votes

At the IBA's Vienna meeting its council voted on two resolutions. The first was to lobby the World Trade Organisation and the Organisation for European Economic Co-operation (OECD) to look at the legal profession as a unique case in plans for global regulation. The second was to acknowledge the rights of lawyers to establish in foreign countries. Both resolutions were passed. The Law Society of England and Wales opposed the second resolution on the grounds that it was a "deplorable compromise".
