The London office of US firm Hunton & Williams has launched a tax practice with the hire of Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw (MBRM) partner Charles Elphicke.
Elphicke joins Hunton as a partner and head of its European tax practice. His practice focuses on international tax structuring, M&A and US investment into the UK.
Hunton European managing partner Martin Thomas said: "The firm's international practice has generated an increasing demand for UK tax advice.
"Charles will strengthen the firm's competitive position in the demanding London corporate and financial markets [and] enhance our ability to compete for cross-border work."
Elphicke said he planned to increase the London office's real estate investment trust and other cross-border work.
Elphicke is a member of the Law Society's corporate tax committee and a research fellow of the Centre for Policy Studies' think-tank.
