Hunters

UK Top 200 position: 193

Hunters saw a slight dip in turnover of 2.5 per cent in the 2011–12 financial year, from £9m to £8.77m. However, senior partner Paul Almy pinned the blame for this on the fact that three partners at the 26-partner firm had stepped down to consultant status during that period.

However, the Lincoln’s Inn firm has also made a number of partner hires in recent months, poaching former head of social care and charities at Russell Jones & Walker (now part of Australian firm Slater & Gordon) Dominik Opalinski in April 2012 and the former head of litigation and employment at Edward Hayes Solicitors, Jamie Lester, in January 2013.

Net profit in 2011–12 grew by 10 per cent to £2.56m. Average profit per equity partner that year stood at £187,000, while the equity spread ranged from £163,000 to £197,000. Almy said the firm is targeting a 10 per cent increase in revenue for the current financial year.
