This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
Salary range NQ – £34,000 (to be reviewed in September).

Training The annual training programme covers black-letter law, with emphasis on the individual’s department area. There is also a bespoke portfolio of business development and personal improvement skills courses. One-to-one coaching is also offered.
Appraisals Assistants make their views known through annual departmental meetings, electronic surveys, the firm’s Contact Partner Scheme and regular departmental ‘prayer’ meetings.
Partner progression Of the firm’s 54 partners, 11 trained with Burges Salmon, 38 were associate laterals before being made up and there are five lateral partners. Youngest partner 29. The annual partner selection process requires a departmental proposal, board approval and a formal endorsement at the partners’ conference.
