Howes Percival has made six fee-earners redundant in its residential conveyancing and remortgaging department.
The partner responsible for marketing, Matthew Talbot said: “We have had to trim down in these areas, as you can imagine.”
He said that all redundancies were made last week in the Milton Keynes office. He was unable to confirm claims that there were additional redundancies in the firm’s Norwich office, or that support staff also lost their jobs.
He added: “There are no other consultations ongoing, but we have to look at every single area. There is the odd person moved down to four days a week.”
It is understood that staff were not offered outplacement services, although Talbot argued “it was all done above board”.
Howes Percival has four offices in Leicester, Milton Keynes, Northampton and Norwich. At the end of the last financial year it had 181 fee-earners and a turnover of £21.9m.
