House cowed

In February this year, Tulkinghorn reported on Hammonds’ former managing partner Chris Jones and his lovely Ilkley pile, which was up for sale at £1.25m.

Six months on and Tulkinghorn (in his capacity as occasional property market analyst) is sad to report that, at press time, the house was still on the market. What’s worse is that, while Jones – like the rest of his partners – faces repaying thousands of pounds in drawings, the price of his beautiful stately pile has plummeted.

Estate agents are now asking for “offers in the region of £1m”. Perhaps a Leeds partner at Addleshaw Goddard, now that they’re being paid “super-competitively” (see The Lawyer, 18 July 2005), would like to put in a bid?
