| While pharmaceutical companies work to develop
life-saving drugs for conditions such as cancer,
these drugs do not always reach those who need
them most. Irwin Mitchell assistant Yogi Amin has
been handling some of the fallout from this
unfortunate situation.
Amin spent 2006 handling several of the biggest
drug disputes around. At the beginning of the year
he advised breast cancer sufferer Ann-Marie Rogers
in her fight to funding for the drug Herceptin. The
case went to the Court of Appeal, where Rogers
was victorious.
Later in the year Amin took up the fight on
behalf of two other cancer sufferers seeking
funding for the drug Tarceva, again winning High
Court judgments on their behalf – a spectacular
result.
