Trevor Faure took over as Europe, Middle East and
Africa (Emea) general counsel of Tyco International
just as the engineering conglomerate was emerging
from an accounting scandal that threatened to sink it.
Together with a crack legal team in the US, Faure
has set about transforming the business with some
gusto. He inherited a team that was spread across
the globe and haemorrhaging money to outside
counsel.
Since his arrival he has recruited a senior legal
team and put in place a structure that will carry the
conglomerate through a transformative
restructuring that will see it split into three
multibillion-dollar companies.
Faure has negotiated a groundbreaking $10m
(£5.09m) flat-fee arrangement with Eversheds. This
apes the DuPont model, but builds on it - to such an
extent that one lawyer was moved to exclaim how
envious he was - and he works at DuPont.
