Allen & Overy’s banking team may have suffered
a few upheavals of late, but in banking partner
Stephen Kensell the firm has an undeniable
jewel.
Kensell featured prominently on a succession of
high-profile deals during 2006 and most recently
bagged a role advising on France’s largest-ever LBO,
acting for Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs on
the €6bn (£4.03bn) financing for the acquisition of
Pages Jaunes by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co and
Goldman Sachs Private Equity.
He also advised Goldman Sachs and HSBC on the
financing for Hellman & Friedman’s purchase of
Gartmore Group. A standout year.
