| Linklaters’ former Asia managing partner and
corporate star Simon Davies has been a man on a
mission for the past few years.
Davies set out to kick the firm’s Asia practice into
shape three years ago. By any standard, his efforts
appear to have succeeded. After less than a year at
the helm Davies succesfully merged the firm’s Tokyo
practice with local Japanese firm Mitsui Yasuda
Wani & Maeda.
More recently Linklaters has identified India and
Korea as potential targets for its Asia strategy. In
fact, Davies’s successor Giles White was recently
spotted in Seoul, so it looks as if Davies’s legacy has
made quite an impact.
After three years based in Hong Kong as Asia
head, Davies is now back in London for full-time
fee-earning. His political stock within Linklaters
could not be higher.
