Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s China securities practice head Teresa Ko is recognised by the industry’s elite as the queen of IPOs. Need we say any more?
The Hong Kong-based partner led her team on the $8bn (£4.37bn) IPO of the China Construction Bank (CCB). The float was the largest to date for a Chinese issuer, the biggest-ever listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the largest IPO in the world (at press time).
Ko’s role on CCB’s IPO claimed another landmark - it beat the previous record for a mega-IPO, the $5.3bn (£2.9bn) IPO of China Unicom, which was set in 2001. The lead adviser? Ko.
Ko joined Freshfields in 1988 and made partner in 1993. Aside from IPOs, the corporate finance and securities specialist continues to secure work on the biggest M&A deals in China and Hong Kong.
