Richard Trobman made a name for himself working on high-value LBOs, having been brought over to Latham & Watkins’ London office in 2000 to strengthen the capital market resources of the firm’s corporate group. Last year brought his crowning deal so far when he landed a role on Europe’s largest-ever LBO.
The Latham partner advised ABN Amro, Deutsche Bank and Sampaolo IMI on the debt package for the Wind LBO of Weather Investments in 2005. The landmark deal was a coup for Trobman and also reinvigorated the high-yield bond market, with the lawyer delivering the €1.25bn (£860m) bond issue on behalf of the bank syndicate.
