Natalia Garcia
Tyndallwoods Solicitors
Sector: Campaigners

A nine-partner firm in Birmingham may not be the obvious place from which to lead a human rights campaign, but that is just what Natalia Garcia is doing at Tyndallwoods Solicitors.

At only nine years' qualified, Garcia is already a partner and a nationally recognised immigration practitioner. Immigration law in recent years has come to encompass some of the most sensitive political issues of the day, meaning that Garcia has out of necessity developed an active campaigning aspect to her work.

During 2005, she spoke out against the Government's plans to detain terrorist suspects without charge. She gave seminars on the consequences of the terrorism bill and acted for two of the former terrorist detainees appealing to the House of Lords over the use of evidence gained through torture. Garcia is respected by her peers and human rights organisations alike and should be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.
