Since Louise Round joined the London Borough of Islington as director of law and public services four and a half years ago, its 82-strong legal team has been through the most challenging of periods.
The borough has been attracting global attention with the construction of Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates stadium, with a judicial review of the project highlighting issues around Islington’s decision to grant planning permission.
Regeneration projects are also in full flow in the borough. Last year, for example, Round brought in Bevan Brittan to advise on the PFI documentation for the Government’s massive Building Schools for the Future programme.
The Islington team may have its work cut out, but with the energetic Round at the helm, it is more than a match for its workload.
