 Introduction

The Hot 100 is a rare thing. It manages to be both elitist and eclectic at the same time. Elitist, because we recognise excellence - and there's plenty of that in these pages. Eclectic, because we recognise excellence from all sectors of the commercial legal profession - the magic circle, in-house, the bar, legal education and overseas.
We know that The Hot 100 spots talent early, and we're delighted that this year we have more women than ever before. Among those women we have a diversity champion, rafts of in-house lawyers, up and coming M&A stars, and talented senior assistants.
