Mr Justice Fulford
Adrian Fulford moved up from the High Court bench to become one of just 18 judges sitting at the International Criminal Court in February last year.

He endured 33 rounds of voting over four days to take up the mantle as the UK's only representative at the prestigious new court and was elected for the maximum nine-year term.

Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said at the time of Mr Justice Fulford's election that he had been chosen for his commitment to the international fight against genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, as well as for his legal expertise.

Judge Fulford, formerly of Michael Mansfield QC's set 14 Tooks Court, also deserves recognition as the country's first openly gay judge - a statement highly in keeping with his strong commitment to human rights.
